Animal endoscopy

Endoscopy is minimally invasive diagnostic procedure.

Endoscopy is conducted using tiny camera which is located on the top of long flexible pipe  used to enter in the inside of hollow organs. This method is most frequently used to examine frontal airways, oesophagus and stomach as well as rectum and large intestine.

Endoscopy is especially significant for diagnosing the presence of foreign bodies.

As diagnostic procedure, endoscopy is conducted in general anaesthesia and it is necessary to do blood tests prior to the procedure itself. In addition to the medical findings, it is also necessary to prepare the patient for endoscopy and it means that the patient must not eat 12 to 24 hours nor drink 8 hours before the procedure.

As a procedure, endoscopy lasts for 30 minutes in average and the animal is lying on the left side.
